Group information

Our group is multidisciplinary and oriented towards research in biomedical imaging techniques, including the evaluation of new technologies, methods of image analysis and processing, their practical clinical application as well as their technological development.

Our location in the Clinical Hospital facilitates the connection of the clinical environment with the basic specialities and teaching departments of the University.

Research in our group is directed in two directions. The more clinical direction towards the test itself, evaluating its effectiveness and safety, and towards its clinical applications, evaluating its diagnostic or therapeutic possibilities. A more technological direction aimed at the evaluation of technologies, for their standardisation, accreditation, and optimisation with special emphasis on radioprotection, as well as image analysis for the design and evaluation of detection, integration, simulation, or communication systems.

We also aim to generate results that are potentially transferable to companies and offer our services to other research groups that include biomedical imaging tests in their research projects.

Lines of research

Validity and reliability of radiological tests. Search for disease or risk markers for different pathologies.
Conducting studies to reduce the radiation dose from exposure in medical imaging.
Development of biomedical image manipulation and processing methods, and integration of different imaging techniques.
Design of systems or processes aimed at optimising the quality of biomedical imaging and the overall quality of radiology services.
Development of learning methods and programmes for training.
Interventionism in cerebral vascular pathology.
