Radiology Research

Strategic objectives

  • To be a reference group for technology assessment.
  • To conduct clinical and basic research of excellence in the field of medical imaging.
  • Training in biomedical imaging research methodology.
  • Serving other research groups and industry.

Lines of research

Biomedical imaging

  • Validity and reliability of radiological tests. Search for disease or risk markers for different pathologies.
  • Conducting studies to reduce the radiation dose from exposure in medical imaging.
  • Development of biomedical image manipulation and processing methods, and integration of different imaging techniques.
  • Design of systems or processes aimed at optimising the quality of biomedical imaging and the overall quality of radiology services.
  • Development of learning methods and programmes for training.
  • Interventionism in cerebral vascular pathology.

Medical Physics

  • Radiological protection in fluoroscopy-guided interventional techniques.
  • Optimisation of radiological procedures, reducing risks to professionals and patients.
  • Assessment of Radiological Risks in Radiotherapy.
